The SLF has introduced intermediate levels for the 5-part avalanche danger level scale for the current season. With -, =, and + it is indicated whether the avalanche danger is more in the lower range, roughly in the middle, or in the upper range of the specified danger level. We have reported extensively on the details and background here.
The intermediate levels have primarily emerged from the desire for a more precise categorisation repeatedly expressed to the SLF by users of the Bulletin. Now those responsible would like to know how the intermediate levels are received and used.
There is a corresponding survey on this: How is the new system being received by ski tourers and freeriders? Does it offer added value? And is it even properly understood? To find out, the avalanche warning service is asking users of the avalanche bulletin to take part in a short online survey to find out. It takes about ten minutes to complete. The answers will help the SLF to improve the avalanche bulletin and adapt it even better to the needs of winter sports enthusiasts.
