The program in detail
On the one hand, the four-day program consists of a ski touring course and a splitboard touring course, each divided into four levels of difficulty. In the beginners' course, you will be professionally equipped, get an insight into the equipment, be introduced to the topic of avalanche transceivers and start your first short tour. The other three levels of difficulty are primarily adapted to your experience and stamina. Depending on which level you choose, you should be able to complete 600-800 m, 1000-1200 m or 1400-1800 m.
On the other hand, the Backcountry Week offers training and further education courses on the subject of safety and avalanches. In the basic avalanche course, participants with little to no experience will first receive a theoretical introduction to the topic, the learning content, such as interpretation of the avalanche forecast, recognition of typical avalanche problems as well as rescue and tour planning directly in the terrain and put it into practice. In the subsequent course for advanced freeriders, additional topics such as snowpack structure, route selection and track layout as well as tactics on the ascent and descent are discussed.
In the last course module of the program, you will be offered a mix of short ascents and comfortable lift rides, which are then of course rewarded with beautiful and long deep snow descents. The freeride courses are also divided into skiers and splitboarders as well as two different ability levels. The courses also differ in terms of the participants' level of experience and ability.
