Movie Review | Before Blank

First of all, the movie is right up my ski movie alley. That means there's a lot of skiing, not much talking and what is talked about is at least likeable, at best funny. The riding is 99% freeriding, 1% backcountry freestyle and exactly 0.0% urban. You have to do that first! Awesome.

Secondly, the music is great. It's always forward and never annoying. NEVER! Awesome.

Thirdly: The riding itself is awesome, it's got beautiful big mountain lines, wild drops, rough shredding, face shots in the fog, pillows that are way too big, and it's (almost) never too thick. For the third time: awesome.

But well, I admit, there's one minus point for me, even if it doesn't really carry much weight: Alexi Godbout is too cool for me. The music is too serious, his (little) banter too casual and the shots of the children seem too blatantly performance-oriented to be likeable. The character Alexi is simply too flat to identify with. That's a shame and could probably have been done better.

But then there are the wonderful end credits, in which everyone gets to make a fool of themselves and take each other apart. It's fun and reconciling. And let's be honest: you don't have to like everyone.

Conclusion: Everyone should have seen it! 9/10 points on the favorite edit scale
