Cliff-hucking, steep lines, shredding every inch of fresh powder. Our sport in its current form probably originated in Jackson Hole (Wyoming) in the 1960s - after all, what would our freeride culture be without the "Jackson Hole Air Force"?
A group of young men discover the incredible feeling of powder intoxication on a new mountain lift. Powder, powder and more powder define their lives from then on. This skibum life is presented in a historical documentary with lots of old and current freeride footage. The result is a gripping, true story with many small and large heroes from the now world-famous ski village.
The constant struggle with the old-fashioned skiing with ski area boundaries and hide-and-seek games with the ski patrol gives the film a very special humorous spice.
Conclusion
If there is such a thing as the birth of modern freeriding, then it was definitely started by the Jackson Hole Air Force. Swift. Silent. Deep. shows the history of this group as a documentary in a humorous and captivating way without sacrificing action shots.
