With the Ski-Matic system for crampons, Grivel has developed a fastening system specifically for ski boots. The crampons are attached to the boot reliably and very quickly using an additional lever at the front. For safety, a strap is ideally fixed with one of the ski boot buckles, which works very well, at least for boots with an instep buckle. If you can't or don't want to attach the crampons to a buckle, a longer strap is also included, which then runs around the shaft of the ski boot. As there is no lever at the back of the boot, the walking mode is not blocked by the crampons and the shaft rotation is maintained.
I use the Ski-Matic crampons in the "Ski-tour" version. This is compact and lightweight (the front part is made of steel, the rear part of aluminum), holds on hard snow as well as on ice and has the proven Grivel anti-ball plates with the "blub". Of course, I would recommend them less for ice climbing, but for all imaginable uses on ski tours they are completely sufficient.
Alternatively, there is also a "ski-race" version, which is made entirely of aluminum and has no anti-ball plates.
Disadvantages? There aren't really any, but the Ski-Matic crampons cannot be used on mountain boots.
Do you urgently need them right now? No, but they are cool. I probably wouldn't buy another crampon for ski boots at the moment...
