Winter 2012 sees the launch of a new editorial feature at PowderGuide: In the "Gear of the Week"section, we will present you with a special product every week. Freeriding is a rather material-intensive sport: from well-sharpened ski edges to warm underwear and an avalanche airbag - a freerider needs many things. Some of them are useful, others less so. Some are ancient and tried and tested, others fresh from the product press. Let's start with the Mammut Felsturm Half-Zip Jacket.
We would like to introduce you to a product that is high on the editorial team's radar in our weekly "Product of the Week". The products are selected according to subjective criteria and briefly presented with their special features, but not tested. Product tests will, of course, continue and increase.
Product of the Week 01 | Mammut Felsturm Half-Zip Jacket
The Mammut Felsturm Half-Zip Jacket is characterized by its super-lightweight, small pack size, waterproof and modern finish. The new and very lightweight GORE-TEX® Active Shell jacket offers amazingly high levels of breathability and reliable weather protection. Whether for fast climbing routes, as an emergency jacket on the mountain or as a fashion accessory in windy, cold city centers. The new zipper construction and lightweight material allow for a very small pack size.
New zipper technology: practical and lightweight
The Felsturm jacket uses a new zipper technology: the zipper spiral is applied directly to the outer fabric. This innovation saves weight, unnecessary tapes and many seams with puncture holes that have to be sealed again. The exclusive Mammut zipper is extremely easy to use thanks to its design and is so flexible that you hardly feel it. For mountaineers, this has the advantage that the jacket can be packed smaller and is more compressible and that the zipper can be operated effortlessly even in the most strenuous situations.
