Attention! Please don't think that the Petzl Ultra is a normal headlamp. The only thing normal about it is that you wear it on your head. I have been using the lamp for 10 months. The lamp is the best in headlamps. You can use it to carry out dificult repair work on skis or drill a ski binding if necessary, even on a moonless night.

If the focus of use is on biking, then I would prefer the Petzl Ultra Wide; if you are looking for trails in the dark (Western Alpine tours), the normal Ultra. Both versions are really brilliant and universal enough to cover most activities from mountaineering to biking. You can really turn up the power to search even the smallest clues in the moraine gravel for trails and can also see really well in the dark when downhill biking. Anyone who has ever used this lamp in comparison to the classic headlamps will be reluctant to use the standard sparklers.
In la Grave there are some riders who make their night trips from the bar to 3200 m with these lamps on skis. I've seen cool videos about it. Herve Doulat made one.
The weight is limited. The battery is really great. It lasts a long time and the problem of organizing batteries is eliminated.
There is even a really fat battery for it, the "Accu 4". See Petzl link at the end of the report.
What I didn't like so much were the tools for attaching the lights to the downhill helmet and bike handlebars. We made our own construction using partly Petzl tools and our own material.
There are two things that are really great about the Stirmlamps: the incredible luminosity - and unfortunately, the very high price of around €320. Nevertheless, for those who are out and about in the dark a lot, the Petzl Ultra is the ultimate lamp.
