After everyone almost went crazy over a few colorful cards and hardly any snow fell below 2500-2600m, there will now be a short cabin break on Monday to discuss tactics and then the südstau will go back out onto the field on Tuesday with renewed vigor.
And now he has decided to at least provide fresh snow from 2000 m, and thus normal alpine altitudes.
But first a tactical analysis of the first half: moisture world class, temperature not even district league. Because you can't win a flower pot with intermittent rain up to 2800m. Nevertheless, there was up to 120 cm of fresh snow from around 2600-2800m. The precipitation totals in the lowlands were up to 250 liters of precipitation per m², so that possibly more than 120 cm could have fallen at very high altitudes. There are hardly any low-wind measurement locations there alone.
Now for the second half of the game: With a snow line of 1700-2000 m, the team is in a slightly better position, but that's not enough for the Powder Champions League. In terms of volume, it's still Dumpbundesliga, because up to 50 cm can accumulate again. The regions are the east/southeast suspects in the Piedmont, Lombardy, Simplon and the Aosta region. Possibly something will spill over to Zermatt or Saas Fee, but then it's more likely to be 20-30 cm.
There aren't that many open ski resorts yet. But Zermatt or Cervinia would come into question. Otherwise it's a case of: Find a mountain road in Italy, drive up, go touring. The Simplon should possibly be white enough by Wednesday. At the moment, I wouldn't want to go down to the pass road yet, as there are only a few centimetres of snow at 2000 m.
Medium-term outlook
Make sacrifices for Ullr! Because the weather situation is very, very set in and I don't see much chance of getting out before the end of November.
Cheers...!
