The almost 40-50cm in the north-east of Switzerland, which no model had on the screen, was surprising in the last alert. But now we are continuing with the regions from alert 13 and this time there is even a base there!
Time period and areas:
Alarm amounts are likely to fall from the Arlberg to France in the Hautes Alpes, with the core once again tending to be in the west and extending from the Lower Valais into the Hautes Alpes. In other words, everything that is served by the west-northwest. However, this current should push far into the Valais and also snow in the Goms. It's possible that parts of North Tyrol will also be subject to alerts, but there it's just about to reach the alert level. In the Eastern Northern Alps there will be much less, nothing else.
The flow is strong and will push far into the main ridge and into Valais.
The alert will last until Tuesday afternoon.
Snowfall limit:
Stays powdery and will fluctuate between 1000 and 1500m, with the higher values in France and the lower ones in the Rhone Valley. But it will start lower tonight. It will tend to get a little higher on Monday and below 1000m again in the evening, so from 1400-1700m everything should remain with good powder depending on the region.
Wind:
Strong currents will push the snow deeper into the Alps, but will cause strong drifts at the top. It should tend to remain somewhat calmer in the inner Alps than in the north-western foothills of the Alps.
