PowderAlert 11 2018 /19 | The alarm before the drought
02/10/2019 • Lars OelmannNormally we are happy about every alarm, but here the future looks rather sad. Will winter soon end again after the great start? More on this in the medium term. And before that, there will be more snow in the north. Anyone who still wants to take a vacation should seriously think about it. -

02/06/2019 • Lea Hartl

PowderAlert 10 2018/19 | One for all!
01/31/2019 • Lars Oelmann
Ullr has ordered a strange weather situation: Once for all powder and in the southeast also with sharp in terms of volumes. WeatherBlog 10 2018/19 | The calm after the storm
01/16/2019 • Lea Hartl
The persistent, very heavy northern precipitation has come to an end and a high with a core in the western Mediterranean will dominate the weather in the Alpine region today, Wednesday. PowderAlert 7 2018/19 | Nordstau 4, the fourth horseman of the primal calypse?
01/07/2019 • Lars Oelmann"There ain't no party like a Nordstau party because a Nordstau party don't stop!" Unfortunately, the party part is long gone in the east and people are more likely to be hungover about the recent large amounts of fresh snow. Only in Switzerland can you still look forward to it, although there too the danger of avalanches will cloud the fun from Wednesday. -

WeatherBlog 5 2018/19 | Review & outlook
12/12/2018 • Lea Hartl
While the weekend was still characterized by mild westerly weather (which is not bad for higher altitudes), low pressure system Marilou took over from the north at the beginning of the week and gave the entire northern slope of the Alps a pretty white dress. -

WeatherBlog 4 2018/19 | West slide and north thaw hope
12/04/2018 • Lea Hartl

11/19/2018 • Lukas Ruetz
Countless ideas and observations were put down on paper for the International Snow Science Workshop 2018. One of them was the result of a collaboration between Kristian Rath, an observer at the Bavarian LWD, and the Snow Sturgeon: A schematic overview map of the "core areas" of the ground-level weak layers in the Alpine region and their connection to the tree species distribution. -

WeatherBlog 1 | 2018/19 | When will the weather be right again?
11/14/2018 • Lea Hartl
The WeatherBlog is slowly waking up from its summer slumber, even if the current weather is rather tempting to throw the alarm clock out of the window and turn over again. After the first hopeful harbingers of winter, a tough blocking situation has dominated events for some time now. Nevertheless, the block is shifting and temperatures are dropping. And: Tomorrow, the PG Weather Service will also start the season!
