Webisodes - this neologism went around the world and through marketing departments just like the concept behind it, called "branded entertainment". And now it's getting on everyone's nerves. Every shit has to be marketed and advertised by means of periodically appearing short videos and so there are what feels like trillions of these short episode films. Even in the freeride sector. If you want to be hip and trendy as a brand, you have to be there. So the freeride film sequences of their own team riders from the next DVD season are immediately thrown to the network-savvy people in snippets for pre-digestion. And so I'm overcome with a mental groan every time another shorty like this is announced somewhere. But this is not always justified and there are regularly real gems hiding behind this trendy format. This week, we're throwing a few of the latest gems at you
Scott | Un Jour Avec un Pisteur
Most of the time, the Scott webisodes take a look behind the scenes of the Freeride World Tour. Here we take a brief look behind the scenes of the Companie du Mont Blanc. With pictures worth seeing and great sound bites. Skilfully ruined by really annoying brand and product talk. There's no better way to illustrate the reasons for my love-hate relationship with this format.
Bon Appétit | S03E06 Bon Appéetit vs Enjoy Your Meal
French, cheeky, unconventional. That's how the Bon Appétit webisodes around Fabien Maierhofer, Nico Favre and Victor Galuchot usually come across. Even the latest one. And all with film material worth seeing. Very entertaining.
EP6S3 - Bon Appétit VS Enjoy Your Meal
Salomon Freeski TV | S06E12 Poor Man's Heli
Salomon Freeski TV is probably THE incarnation of freeski-oriented webisodes. And mostly worth watching. Sometimes more, sometimes very, sometimes less. This time again more. Up with the paraglider, down with skis. Perfect combination.
Huck & Chuck - Trip | S01E02 Tr8p
With their new webisode format "Trip", the Falquet brothers show that these regular short films can certainly be fun. Focused purely on's photography, there are aesthetic short films here. Modern format, but this time 8mm footage. This is out-of-the-box and worth seeing!
A Skiers Journey | S03E03 Iceland
The master of webisodes worth seeing, Jordan Manley, has struck again. Fascinating images, great aesthetics and an ingenious soundtrack make even barren slopes feel like skiing. And above all to travel. The best wanderlust food.
Aurélien Routens | Carpe Diem
La Grave local Aurélien Routens - runner-up at this year's FWT Snowboard - is currently working on a few webisodes. He mainly films the impressions and his own lines himself and only takes help from expert friends when editing. Click and enjoy...
