Weather development
A cold front crosses the Alpine arc and brings a winter feeling. Today (Thursday, 3.11.), the controlling low is still sitting over the British Isles and will push a little to the east by tomorrow, losing a small spur that will slide towards the Mediterranean. The arrival of the front will bring fairly widespread precipitation and significantly lower temperatures. Snowfall will start in the western Alps as early as tonight and further east during the course of Friday. Due to the position of the mini low that has slipped, accumulation effects will occur in the southeast, so that 30-50 cm can be expected at higher elevations.
It will clear up relatively quickly, in the west as early as Friday afternoon and in the east on Saturday. From Sunday, high pressure will prevail again everywhere. Another cold front will probably reach us in the middle of next week, embedded in a small shortwave trough. However, this more or less wintry interlude is also likely to be short-lived.
