Alas, it was time to leave the peace of Lyngen and head for the bustling city.

I traded mountaintops for manmade structures as the skyline. Snow and reindeer for people and cars as those with whom I interacted.

It was a bittersweet end that had to happen. Snow was melting down low, and long days in Lyngen was starting to take their toll. I hurt from two bone spurs, three cracked toenails, and three blisters that had long since gone bloody from camping and kayaking, and that was just my left foot.

Down to Oslo, and straight into a bender. The joy of meeting up with old friends, some of whom I hadn’t seen in years, far outweighed the pain of hangovers after late nights out.

This didn’t stop the body from rejecting the sudden change in lifestyle. After a long, booze fueled weekend celebrating the 17 of May, it was time to get out of the city.

Jimmy and I dreamed of white sandy beaches, seafoam green waves, and a sleepy surf town far away from the bustle of the city….
