PG 3.0
While we're usually all hibernating or escaping into the southern winter, this year large parts of the PG team have been holding down the fort behind the scenes and working diligently on a technical and visual update of PowderGuide.com. As everything was once again a little more complex than expected, we are now almost finished, but unfortunately not quite yet. We assume that we will be able to launch the site for the new season (if it snows properly!!) and are confident that we will be able to get a few long-established and almost cherished technical issues under control. In addition, everything will of course be prettier, more colorful, more responsive and better anyway.
The content of the site will all be taken over! Conditions reports, which are now posted in the early season, will not be lost with the relaunch. The new site is currently putting quite a strain on our personnel resources. That is a euphemism for: we are driving the programmer crazy and neglecting our "real" jobs. Therefore, although we are now slowly starting editorial operations, the weather service will have to wait until the new site is up and running. The regular weekly columns will start as usual around mid-November, or when there is actually significant snow.
The snow depth prediction game will be back again this season as soon as a PowderGuide.com is declared for the first time. We will also be making the SNOWGRID maps, which were introduced last year on a trial basis, available again as part of the weather service.
