Snow condition
The Niederalpl (1220m) has reported 2.20m this morning. Above-average snow in the lower valleys too. At 1015m I measured 165cm today on a forest road with the probe. Forests are covered in deep snow all the way down and are great to drive on. You have to probe the concrete snow surface from the Christmas thaw, otherwise you won't notice it any more, and the fresh snow for no reason made every activity (especially uphill) extremely difficult. New record: 4 hours for 210m difference in altitude despite the variety of tracks!
Snow quality
Fluffy and light, but not worthy of a 5-star rating. The braking effect of the fresh snow was clear - even with wide skis or snowboards. During the day, and now especially in the evening, it warmed up considerably. At the moment at about 700m at the zero degree limit.
Risks
Very tricky. And also difficult to assess. We didn't get beyond the wind-protected forest today, so I can't report any signs (but the danger is evident). However, the predicted problem of landslides from steep slopes / steep forest zones didn't show up here, but we were also back down before the warming.
Overall impression
Epic! But more as an overall winter experience than purely in terms of skiing. Nevertheless, the last two days (to which this CR refers) were great!
