Sehr gute Schneelage und Verhältnisse am Alpenostrand

Snow condition
The snow of the last two weeks has already settled considerably. A brief warming from Thursday to Friday morning helped. Since then there has been a lot of fluffy fresh snow (approx. 20 cm) and temperatures have dropped well below freezing again. Heavy snowfall all afternoon yesterday with little wind. The amount of snow in the valleys (approx. 700 to 800m) is probably even above average at the moment. Fair to good further up. The forest is also already good to ski on. Deadwood etc. already well snowed in in places and/or can already be used as pillows.
Snow quality
Fluffy fresh snow that has fallen with little wind.
Risks
The extensive drift snow packs have now been covered by the fresh snow. Generally lots of drift snow and cornice formations far down into the forest. Small releases in steeper forest gullies.
Overall impression
All in all, the situation on the eastern edge of the Alps is now very good. The older layers of snow have already settled well and the fresh snow from Friday and Saturday has ensured very good powder conditions. However, faceshot depths have not been reached by a long way: beautiful winter landscapes everywhere!
