Start at approx. 850 m above sea level on the Lahnsattelbundesstrasse. We only had to carry our skis for the first few meters on the forest road. Then a few centimeters of fresh snow on an icy "concrete base". The snow depth increased rapidly towards the top.
Snow quality
Clearly not enough fresh snow at the bottom (approx. 5 cm), approx. 10 cm at the top, sometimes more (a little blown in). You could feel most of the snow cover at the top, but it was still much better than expected. You could also ski (carefully) in the deeper forest, but with little enjoyment.
Risks
Fresh, packed snow, which also slips off easily on the hard snow crust. But no problem today thanks to the low depth of fresh snow. On the descent, snow-covered nodules of (smaller) snow slabs were visible.
Overall impression
At least it was a day in the snow, which brought even better downhill conditions than expected. If it snows even more next week, you'll soon no longer be able to feel the snow cover from the rain.
