Feiner Tag im Osten
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
There is also enough snow on the eastern edge of the Alps. We were mostly in the forest and had no contact with the ground.
Snow quality
The snow has held up well due to the cold temperatures. 30 - 40 cm of powdery snow on a layer of harsh snow. There was still some untracked terrain, so it was great for riding.
Risks
Large sliding snow avalanches could be observed, especially on the sunny slopes. Clear signs of wind could be seen on the shady slopes. Wind signs and settling noises could also be detected in the sparse forest at approx. 1700m.
Overall impression
The conditions were exceptionally good for the eastern edge of the Alps, and the weather was also better than expected. Powder snow and partial sunshine make for a five-star combination.
