Ascent via the Fadensteig (north-facing). Slight patches of ice on the rocks. Surefootedness is required but no crampons necessary. There is enough snow on the blown-off ridge to walk with skins. Wide Ries and the surrounding gullies are windswept but there is enough snow to ski down without contacting rocks and in the open area there is a light cover above. Further down, the line should be well chosen so as not to eat the large stones. There is perfect powder in the forest. Every now and then wood comes through but nothing serious.

Windswept from the summit or from the entrance 2000m to about 1200m. When the forest starts 1200m to 900m and the line is skillfully chosen through the trees it is really fun.

Risks

Well-set snow and no concerns, an older sliding snow avalanche in the upper part of the gully, ridges and entrances that were very exposed to the wind are afflicted with large cornices.

Overall impression

Good day and no wind on the mountain (a rarity) but the conditions left a lot to be desired.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
