Snow condition
After the snowfall at the beginning of this week, last night and today until the evening, it's getting better and better. The LWD station at the pass (1230m) shows 80 cm, which is a very good base considering the heavy settling of the fresh snow from earlier this week. The normal skier forest is already going very, very well. In the meantime, the forest infights typical of the Alps are also possible quite well (and without damaging the surface).
Snow quality
Very nice powder. The fresh snow has fallen in very cold conditions and (apart from very exposed areas) with little wind influence. Unfortunately, the wind is supposed to get stronger tomorrow and soon reach gale (possibly hurricane) force. So the good conditions won't last ...
Risks
No signs to be seen (but visibility was also very poor above the tree line). Wakes forming near the ridge, but nothing untypical. Wind was very local today. Almost no wind on the north side of the Kl. Wildkamm, then very unpleasant wind on the Wetterinalm (and in the chairlift from Niederalpl). In any case, the storm will make things increasingly precarious tomorrow.
Overall impression
Definitely a three. No stone contact and carefree swinging in the light forest -
but the mountain pine zone is still a bit tedious. That's why I'm saving the 4 stars for even better days (I'll do without the early season bonus here ....)
