Snow condition

The amount of snow in the Ammergau mountains is very low. A few centimetres have fallen since the New Year, making ski tours possible. However, the warmth and rain of the last two days have taken their toll on the snow cover.

Today and yesterday it was very warm up to 2000m and rained up to this altitude. So there's not much left of last week's fresh snow. The remaining snow is very wet and not very suitable for skiing.

Risks

Due to the very high temperatures and the rain, the thin layer of snow is completely soaked. There were some wet snow slides and wet loose snow slides. For this reason, we abandoned our tour early today.

Overall impression

We would probably have preferred to stay at home today. Without cold weather and fresh snow, nothing works in the Ammergau mountains for the time being.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
