Of course, it's still low for the time of year, but there has been quite a bit in the last few days. In the valley there's about 30 cm of snow without a base, so you can't avoid contact with the ground (but as our tour led across meadow terrain throughout, this was bearable). Above around 1300m (or wherever the snow cover has survived the warmth and rain of the last week) there is a good base on which to ski. At the top there is 40-50 cm of powder in places.

Due to the consistently cold temperatures of the last few days, the powder was consistently nice and fluffy and great to ski on where there was a base. As we were below the tree line throughout and in relatively wind-protected terrain, the snow was hardly affected by the wind.

Risks

The LWD Bavaria issued level 1 below the tree line and level 3 above. We were only out and about below the tree line, and I can confirm this assessment.

Considering how modest the winter has been so far, you can be very satisfied with a day like today. Due to the poor visibility and the avalanche situation, we were only out at lower altitudes and still had a lot of fun. We definitely have a base now, and there's another snowfall forecast for tomorrow. So it will be!
