Snow report Ammer Mountains, 02/18/2015
Successful search for untracked snow in the Ammergau mountains (north; 800-1650m)

Overall impression
Snow condition
The amount of snow is not exactly great. It's enough to start from the valleys, but the snow cover in the forest is thin. The southern sides are slowly thinning out and the mountain pine belts are only partially snowed in.
Snow quality
The quality of the snow varies between "drifted", hard snow and powder. In shady and windless places, you can even find good powder snow up to an altitude of 1000m.
Risks
The situation is quite favorable. Sliding snow slides require attention.
Overall impression
The limiting factor for finding good snow is not so much the snow quality, but mainly the large number of ski tourers since the last snowfall.
