Before the snowfall on Sunday, the amount of snow had already decreased quite a bit. On Saturday on the Alpspitze (Wetterstein) there was little snow on the eastern flank. However, the via ferrata was very easy to walk. In the night to Sunday, around 10cm fell in the valleys of the Ammergau mountains and 15cm on the mountains. I observed these snow depths yesterday on the Tegelberg. Unfortunately, the thermometer had already risen above 0 degrees yesterday and so there wasn't much fresh snow left today. So today in the Ammertal there was still about 5cm of fresh snow on a mostly snow-free surface in a southerly exposition and on a snow cover in a northerly exposition. Unfortunately, it started to rain in the valleys this afternoon.

The snow was bad on Saturday. The descent was very icy and, in hindsight, the way back via the Via Ferrata would probably have been the better option. On Sunday, the snow was great and powdery in the morning. The problem here was the condition of the base. It was similar this morning, when it went very well on a little-traveled harsch cover.

Risks

Mostly inexpensive, note the sliding snow chute

It will be interesting to see how the weather develops. On the one hand, there is still fresh snow in the higher regions of the Ammergau at the moment. On the other hand, there's a risk that the tour access routes will become snowed out due to the rain and warmth. PS: Pictures are from today.
