Ski tour in the Ammergau mountains (north, 1000-1800m)

Snow condition
The amount of snow in the Ammergau mountains is considerable. This is mainly due to the fresh snow from last week. In addition, another 10 cm of fresh snow fell from Friday to Saturday. Today it was possible to ski down to the valley without any problems.
Snow quality
Yesterday it was very warm up to 2000m and so there is nothing left of last week's fresh snow. Instead, the snow has settled and is now forming a hard and slippery layer under the fresh snow. Today's snow also suffered from the relatively high temperatures around 0 degrees. For this reason, the snow was a little damp, but still very good to ride on.
Risks
Due to the very high temperatures yesterday, the snow cover from the middle of the week, which was considered critical, has stabilized. However, we did abandon our tour prematurely today. The reason for this was the lack of 10 cm of fresh snow on the relatively smooth old snow. As a result, clods were already slipping off the hard surface on the ascent. In addition to the lack of bindings, the temperature also had to be taken into account as it wasn't really freezing even at 1900m.
Overall impression
The downhill conditions were very good despite the damp snow. Unfortunately, the weather didn't play along today.
