The Gotthard region is not well snowed in this year and the wind has spread everything unevenly. At the top and in the rocky valley, it looks like October sometimes. The further down, the calmer and more homogeneous the snow cover.
Snow quality
As in many regions, the wind has raged here too. Combs and ridges have been blown off and transported. In the lee, the whole thing lies in massive packs on an unfavorable layer of old snow. On the Russirun there were a few powdery patches in the moderate terrain.
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
The LLB warns of drift snow, fresh snow garnished with an old snow problem. Defensive route choice recommended, whereby we could not see any observations of descents.
Overall impression
Good day with little activity. Sun and a few nice turns. The pistes are perfect, which makes up for the limited off-piste options.
