Snow report Andermatt / Gotthard, 02/10/2014
Wow, my best day of the season. 30 centimeters of fluffy pow and lots of first lines thanks to few people. And because we were at the Whiterisk.ch camp with a mountain guide from the Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF), we knew exactly where we were going.

Snow condition
Around 30 centimetres of the finest powder fell from the sky on Monday, or rather in the night to Tuesday. The strong wind - the Föhn wind was blowing at around 100 km/h - has transported the snow. Ridges and ridges have been blown off and the snow has been wind-packed on certain slopes. But in the Guspis and the Felsental, the conditions were perfect.
Snow quality
Short and sweet: Perfect. Up to 30 centimeters of the finest powder.
Risks
Avalanche warning level 3 was issued for Tuesday. The danger is mainly due to accumulations of drift snow. We only saw one small loose snow avalanche in the whole area in the afternoon. Our mountain guide from the SLF and also the piste and rescue manager from Gemsstock rated most of the terrain as easy to ski - and if anyone has a clue about the subject matter, it's these gentlemen.
Overall impression
My patience was finally rewarded today. By far the best day of the season. Lots of first lines. It could go on like this every day...
