Snow condition
You can give 3 stars for the north-east tour. Sufficient snow from the bottom (just under 1600m) to the top. On the south side and on the ridge, ridges and wind-exposed flanks, the ground sometimes peeks out.
Snow quality
Unfortunately it was worse than we had hoped. We had speculated that the wind would not have been so strong on our descent (NE), but unfortunately this was not the case. Wind cover from top to bottom. There was more powder on the east-facing ascent. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
Risks
No alarm signs (spontaneous departures, booming noises, cracks) were noticed, but the snow drifts from the SLF are certainly justified. The foehn has transported a lot of snow, and not just near the crest. Wet snow is not yet a problem.
Overall impression
Had hoped for some soft snow without a lid and were unfortunately disappointed. But the weather was quite nice, apart from the strong foehn wind.
A little tip for tomorrow: Gemsstockbahn was closed yesterday and today, so you can probably still find something.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
