Oberalppass- Piz Cavradi- Tschamut
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Enough to do the whole tour on skis. We actually skied all the way over the Rhine bridge in Tschamutt. If you keep your eyes open, you can avoid hitting rocks even at lower altitudes. But not always on meadows or mountain pines in the wet snow slides.
Snow quality
There is powder from the Maigelshütte. But it is rather puffy. From the hut to the south it still looks very good. Could still be interesting in the north. Below the hut is spring snow. First hard then slushpuppi.
Risks
Should actually be ok above the hut. Nevertheless, we didn't go for the couloir facing the Oberalp Pass after a short digging session at the start. In 20cm a clear and in 50cm another weak layer. It was certainly blown in near the ridge and better at the bottom, but it also seemed to be covered. So we went over the ridge towards Tschamut and were able to marvel at the middle wet snow slides. Even spontaneously they went down to just below 2000 on the northern slopes facing the Rhine.
Overall impression
It was nice because there is actually still enough snow. And I prefer soft slush for surfing to broken snow.
