Snow condition
The wind from 7.1 has done a lot of work and changed the snow conditions considerably. Gullies and hollows are clearly blown in and stones are sticking out again on almost all ridges. Stone contact must be expected again at all altitudes.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, the snow quality has also suffered greatly from the relatively warm wind. In relation to the last reports from the area, it has decreased significantly. In some places it's almost capped. With the temperatures today, it's getting even worse.
Risks
A 3 over 2000 was reported. The same applies today on 9.1. We were traveling defensively and that is appropriate. That means no first tracks and we kept to well-tracked areas in order to be able to ski at all. Blasting successes on the Schindlergrat confirm this. Cracks in the snow cover could also be observed. The rising temperatures will have a positive effect, but that will probably take some time. It started to snow heavily in the evening.
Overall impression
Nice day and finally saw some snow! We skied almost everything on the Schindlergrat. Unfortunately the visibility was worse than predicted.
