Warth clearly benefits from its northern exposure. In contrast to other areas, a very good base has developed as a result. The snow conditions are still below average, but overall things are improving and many variants are skiable.
Snow quality
The snow is holding up well on the northern slopes, even though it got quite warm during the course of the day due to the hairdryer. The snow is very compacted and settled. The fresh snow has been transported, so the powdering fun is limited.
Risks
The strong winds (also due to the foehn storm) have caused the snow to shift considerably. Some of the crests have been blown down to the grass, forming large drift snow packs that can be dangerous in fresh snow. Over the course of the day, a few blowouts of drift snow in northern exposures were observed in the area.
Overall impression
We actually expected very little from the day and were mainly out and about on the slopes. Off-piste, however, the snow was softer than expected. Overall, you can probably be cautiously optimistic that the snow conditions could finally be really good the next time it snows.
