Snow report Arlberg, 01/24/2014
Der "geilste" Tage dieser noch jungen Saison, 6000hm bergab durch super powder, nur die Ski mussten etwas leiden auf Grund der fehlenden Unterlage

Snow condition
In general, we still don't have enough snow. Although it has snowed about 25-30cm in the last 36 hours, the wind has been blowing again since midday today, blowing everything off the ridges above 1800m. Classic routes in gullies are now slowly but surely skiable for the most part without too much material damage
Snow quality
The fresh snow is super loose and fluffy. The base is mostly very poor and only above 1700m is the base continuous but full of holes like Swiss cheese due to transformations. In the northern expos, the base goes down to lower altitudes on sun-exposed slopes and is sometimes completely missing. The 4 stars are given because it is generally nice fresh powder.
Risks
The avalanche situation is relatively relaxed because there is not much snow. The LLB describes everything quite well, the greater caution is required for stones lurking under the white splendor.
Overall impression
A successful powder day, we were still conservative with our lines but it was really dusty again. As I said, the skis often had to suffer and a few of the ascents and descents were rocky and only doable on foot. But it was relatively the best day so far. It can go on like this!
