Wieder einmal ein verhältnismäßig guter Variantenskitag für diese "katastrophale" Saison in den Nordalpen.

In general, there is still not enough snow and it is a bit poor for early February. However, there was 10-15cm of powdery fresh snow overnight. Below that, the base is thin to non-existent. Stone contact is to be expected at all exposed points in the terrain.

The fresh snow is nice and powdery and worth 4 stars except for local drifts. However, from midday onwards, an intense wind and the onset of a foehn storm blew away the 4 star rating. The ground is wind-pressed to hard and sluggish.

Risks

The LLB reveals almost everything with these small amounts of snow. A few small slides could be seen in the steep, blown-in terrain. These were all triggered by skiers and were localized.

The text message with 10cm of powder snow on a crushed base that I received this morning says it all. Most of the classic variants in the area can be skied with a little caution. It wasn't a carefree powder day but relatively good.
