Snow report Arlberg, 10/23/2014

Impressive for the end of October! Even the lift operators are starting to run the snow cannons.

I can give these two stars with a clear conscience. Between Alpe Rauz and Ulmer Hütte it was better than last winter. At the top towards Schindlergrat it was very blown out. You could probably ski the Schindlerrinnen according to the tracks. But I didn't really like them today.

Snow quality

As a strong wind was blowing until midday today, some of the snow was heavily packed and there was no crystal structure left. Nevertheless, there was great creamy snow which is a lot of fun and definitely motivates for more! Up to 2400m, however, the snow is already thawing on the south side.

Risks

Not without problems thanks to the wind. The choice of track should be made consciously. Many small chutes can be observed on the south-facing slopes. From steep terrain also medium-loft self-releases.

I am thrilled. On the one hand, this may be due to my withdrawal symptoms, but on the other hand, the conditions were perfectly usable! The weekend can come!
