Overall impression
Three days ago I read a posting: "Nichtendendes Hinunterlaufen hat jetzt Winterpause! (gipfelbuch.ch)"
Now that snow has fallen again, the snow cannons are running anyway and the weather forecast for today was cold and sunny, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the situation on site.
The fact that both the Hahntennjoch and Lech-Warth are still open should have given me pause for thought.
Despite this, the choice fell on Zürs because of the high starting point (approx. 1,700 m) and the snow cannons already mentioned.
In addition, it's just about 50 km as the crow flies from there to the location of the above-mentioned posting.
The snow cannons were (almost) all running and produced quite wet snow, up to something like liquid ice.
Amazingly, all the cable cars were also running. But no tickets have been sold yet!
Conclusion:
The last snowfall has turned the area white. In the Allgäu and the neighboring mountain regions, nothing works anyway!
In Zürs there is about 10cm of powder, on nothing. The piste (Trittkopf) is "groomed" up to approx. 2,100m. If you can call this mixture of ice slabs, piles of snow, ski tracks, dirt and stones that. Above that point, nothing at all is possible. The amount of snow doesn't increase any further (in picture 6, the ski poles are stuck in the dirt). I wasn't the only one, by the way. Just there, two girls came towards me, carrying skis back down the mountain.
I then decided to break off and use the day to refuel, buy cheese and explore further.
The last picture shows the southern sides of the Allgäu, from the Lech Valley.
With the foehn now predicted, there's a reset.
So better stay at home again at the weekend ...
1 star, because there are no negative stars!
