Deep, Fluffy Pow am Sonnekopf
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
After almost 1 m of fresh snow has fallen since last Thursday, you can ski down to the valley station (1000m). At the bottom there is about 40 cm and there is still stone/tree stump/bush contact to be expected. But it's getting better by the hour.
Snow quality
Super fluffy powder that is effortless to ski. And it was very deep, up to half a meter of untracked perfect powder.
Risks
Light flow avalanches were observed in the forest on steeper terrain. Significant accumulations of drift snow have formed above the tree line. Extreme caution is certainly required here.
Overall impression
A beautiful day with limited visibility due to the persistent snowfall. But it was magical in the forest: deep powder jumps, bumps and face shots. The last 100 vertical meters the fresh snow was still directly on the forest floor so only 4 stars.
