Snow condition

There was more before the big Föhn storm. East-facing slopes often have much better snow conditions than west-facing slopes here. As already mentioned, there is generally more in the north. Good but otherwise, I'd be interested to know what it looks like on the glaciers...

Snow quality

I was pleasantly surprised on the descent, there was more fresh snow than I expected on the ascent. Cold flat powder. Crusty on the south side and further down with light cover. It rained up to 1800m where we were on the way.

It wasn't wet at the bottom and froze through. Fresh snow was transported but the 10 cm was unevenly distributed. Fresh drift snow is clearly visible. Still a 3, but a bit more relaxed than the previous days. The light crust with powder snow underneath below 2000m could be interesting. No danger signs other than snow flags.

Overall impression

Conter ski tour on New Year's Day. Very little activity, so you could be relaxed in the area until midday. Zamg was a bit off the mark today as to when it would start to open up, they said from midday. With the multi-model from meteoblue you could get a bit of an idea. I can only recommend it at this point.
