15 cm fresh snow

The snow situation looks a little better thanks to the recent snowfall. However, most of the 15 cm of fresh snow has not really made up for the last few weeks, so the snow conditions are below average. On the south side, the mountain pine fields are still not even close to being covered. There is enough snow in the open forest, but not enough in the denser forest. In steeper gullies you still have to watch out for stone contact, although the gullies are generally still looking the best at the moment.

Powder snow

Very fine powder snow, almost without wind influence and very fluffy. The only catch is that it is mostly only 15cm on a crust, which spoils the skiing fun. In very special places, however, this valuable commodity is surprisingly available in much larger quantities, where 40 cm of fine powder can be found. Somewhat narrower, wind-protected gullies that get little to no sun at this time of year are currently highly recommended.

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

15cm of fresh snow on a rather favorable layer of old snow, the wind influence was also relatively limited. Completely unbound, deep fresh snow in our gully (a lot of snow fell from the surrounding rock faces and filled the gully). The snow profile in the gully made a good impression, unbound fresh snow on relatively compact old snow cover, surprisingly without a rain crust (at 2500m). Nevertheless, we gave ourselves the last 100m to the gully exit, as we suspected more wind influence there than in the wind-protected gully. In steep terrain close to the ridge, you should watch out for drift snow.

Equal

Once again we did everything right (greetings go out to Günther Platter). On a day when probably half of Tirol was sliding around on dust on crust, we actually found some really deep powder snow without crust. We had maximum fun in the gully, but the fields below were still nice to ski despite the crust. On tour alone on a public holiday (+ vacation time), plus the brilliant snow conditions and a cool gully. Definitely a day in the top 3-star range! :)

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
