Update freeride start in the Axamer Lizum
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
2 stars because there is also around 20cm of snow in the valley in Axams. The open valley runs are possible, even if you shouldn't rely too much on a base. On the mountain, however, it's almost no different and doesn't deserve 2 stars. Many standard variants are skied, but you always have to reckon with contact with boulders. Everything outside the forest, especially the ridges, is heavily blown away. There is widespread 30cm of fresh snow. Unfortunately there is hardly any base.
Snow quality
Where the snow is unaffected, actually 4 stars. Loose and fluffy, great to ride. But as the wind was often in it and there was no compact layer under the fresh powder, only 3 stars.
Risks
According to the LLB level 3, in parts of Tyrol level 4. Some small snow slabs have also been released in steep areas. But still too little snow on the larger slopes. I didn't observe any spontaneous avalanches.
Overall impression
It was a start and a lot of things were driven. But always with the handbrake. Ground contact is unavoidable. The positive thing is that there is now a base in many areas. Especially in the areas protected from the wind, things can really get going with the next snowfall.
