Snow condition

From 0 to 100, almost literally, there was almost no snow, now there is about 1m in the area of the tree line, most of which is fresh snow. Further down, it quickly becomes less, but you can even ride carefully in the forest, which I wouldn't have expected. contact with the ground can of course still occur, but it is surprisingly rare.

Snow quality

Good powder, but not completely fluffy, it's slightly settled practically everywhere, despite the persistent snowfall. Therefore no great sinking depths, but you can still have fun, lots of wind, the snow is also influenced by the wind far into the forest. Above the tree line, of course, the wind is stronger, but the snow is still soft.

Here we come to the unpleasant part, it's really blatant what's going on. I've been off-roading for quite some time now, but I can't remember ever having seen so many cracks, subsidence noises and snow slabs BELOW the tree line. everything that is steep comes off, be it the sides of ditches, embankments on pistes, forest tracks and roads or even corresponding slope areas. when riding on very flat terrain, you constantly have cracks in the snow cover everywhere that go completely through the fresh snow. I've never seen this to this extent either, everything would clearly come off here if it were steep enough.

Overall impression

Nice snow, and finally there's a base in the north too.
But you can't do much with it if you have to stay in the flattest possible terrain even in the forest. I'll only be visiting completely flat terrain for the next few days.
It's not for nothing that the avalanche warning service has given a 4 down into the Inn valley (I can't remember that either).
