Variants with worsening snow in Kühtai
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Despite the heavy snowfall, the snow is decreasing in many places. The reason for this is the storm at the beginning of the week. Many places are heavily blown off. In other places, however, there is logically a lot of snow. Some of the obstructions are full. But practically everything is passable right down into the valley and the areas with little snow are clearly visible. We didn't find any sharks. It must have been about 10-20cm of fresh snow. However, it is difficult to say due to the extensive drifts.
Snow quality
From quite good to really bad. So from little influenced powder (no longer cold and loose) to powder made heavy by the sun (clearly noticeable from around midday) to extremely wind-pressed areas. Best of all in wind-protected forest areas towards the north.
Risks
According to the LLB, from 1800 m (i.e. practically the entire Kühtai ski area) level 4, but nobody seems to care. As soon as a lift opens, the four of us (sometimes without equipment) ski into very steep (rocky) terrain... So we skied everything, we didn't see any skier avalanches. It remains to be seen whether those who skied everything on a 4-person tour were right... In any case, there are signs everywhere of extreme wind-induced drifting.
Overall impression
Still good in the right places. But the snow is starting to settle and in the next few nice days you will have to take a closer look when choosing the area and the runs to find good snow.
