Snow condition
The snow conditions are very good. You can get down into the valley everywhere and the forest is also skiable throughout. The gullies have also been given a nice reset with wild snow. As the ground is well tracked, the weak layers (ECTN24) are not very pronounced.
Snow quality
On top, 20 cm of very cold and fluffy wild snow. Underneath, there is a grippy, tracked layer, but this is not disturbing. A light crust is noticeable in sunny spots.
Risks
The avalanche situation is slowly improving. No fresh avalanches were observed in the terrain. In the terrain close to the ridges and at transitions, you can sometimes see the wind influence very clearly.
Overall impression
Very nice lunchtime tour in the Lizum. As the actual destination (Ampferstein) was already well tracked, we decided to take the gully further to the left. In addition to one ascent and two descent tracks, a snow profile encouraged us to go up the gully. All in all, it was a good decision as we were able to take advantage of the pleasant snow.
