Overall impression
Snow condition
A few centimetres were added to the already considerable amount of snow in the Stubai mountains during the week. On the north side, descents are possible as far as the Inntal valley. Many south-facing ski tours can also be undertaken.
Snow quality
The snow quality was extremely good in the northern exposure. There was about 20cm of powder snow (at about 2500m) on a stable base. That was probably the best snow of the winter for me. It should be noted for tomorrow, however, that it has thawed to high altitudes of 2700m today due to the warmth.
Risks
We would have considered the LL to be relatively favorable today. The wind signs and drifting were not as strong as we had feared. However, the warmth with plus temperatures at 2700m in the sun had a negative effect in terms of wet snow and sliding snow. Without being able to put our finger on it, we heard the loud sound of an avalanche on the ascent today. Probably a wet snow slide from rocky terrain.
Overall impression
Great snow, great tour, great weather
