Snow condition
Yesterday there were barely 3 stars, today there are 3 stars again thanks to 30cm of fresh snow (increasing during the course of the day). You should bear in mind that there was no snow at all yesterday in the denser forest and also on all the southern slopes, and of course the fresh snow that fell today is not enough there either. Of course, anyone who has been able to get a picture of the base in the last few days is lucky here... Further up in the area there is a lot of fresh snow, but it is difficult to judge the exact totals due to the influence of the wind. Due to the very light snow, however, you still keep coming across the hard and often very rutted surface, which does reduce the fun.
Snow quality
Very good, practically permanent face shots. Above the tree line, the snow was mostly wind-affected and bound, but still very light and extremely powdery. The snow was only moist far below the ski area...
Risks
Critical. There was more wind than I had expected, and snow was also transported during the course of the day. The quite cold fresh snow didn't bond well with the rather warm and hard base, almost everywhere where it was steep enough it came off, either as a sluff or as a snow slab.
Overall impression
Better than expected, with a slight deduction in the overall rating for the poor snow conditions in the forest (on a day like this you're skiing blindly above it), the tense avalanche situation and the fact that you can sometimes feel the hard surface.
