Exposition
Snow condition
Relatively good snow conditions for this winter. All gullies are possible, even if the odd rock can still be lurking in places (especially at the top near the notches and on ridges). For the most part, however, you can enjoy the good powder. The west and south-facing slopes are often bare before the snowfall, so it is better to stay on the north and east-facing slopes.
Snow quality
Good, cold powder snow with little wind influence. Only at the very top at the gully exits a little more wind influence noticeable. Nice and powdery in all exposures in the morning, but apart from the north-facing slopes, this will have changed or will soon change in all other exposures.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The avalanche situation in the busy terrain is currently somewhat more relaxed than indicated in the LWD. On Sunday (before the snowfall), every gully was completely covered in snow. In less frequented terrain and at higher altitudes, the situation is probably more critical.
Overall impression
Beautiful morning in the Kalkkögeln. From the first rays of sunshine we used the good powder for 4 beautiful runs. Fortunately, an early start is not so common for many people, so the crowds were only at the top when they were already on their way home. It was probably all plowed up in the course of the day.
