Snow condition
As expected, still a lot of snow from the parking lot. The crossing above the reservoir is a little difficult, as there are many hard-frozen avalanche chutes to cross.
Snow quality
After a clear night and cold temperatures in the morning, everything was frozen hard. On the northern slopes of the Finstertaler Scharte and Sulzkogel about 10 cm of powder (a little more in places at higher altitudes)South-facing descent down to the Schweinfurter Hütte fantastic firn. Departure at 11.30 am from the Schartenkopf.
Risks
Observe daytime heating.
Overall impression
Excellent conditions this Saturday.
Thanks to a clear/cold night, very good firn conditions on the south-facing slopes.
The north-facing runs also made a good impression; approx. 10 cm of powder.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Schweinfurter Hütte has been closed for the season since last weekend! However, the excellent winter room is available and was locked when we arrived; take the AV key with you! The winter room has everything you need (wood, blankets, cooking utensils).
