Powder and sharks for the west
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
There is almost no base below 2500 m, the last significant snowfall was in November last year! With a good choice of line and knowledge of the terrain, a few nice turns are possible. But more is urgently needed
Snow quality
40 cm of dry, downy powder snow has fallen deep into the valleys. It finally looks like winter. But there are lots of nasty little sharks lurking underneath the powder, which is delightful to ride.
Risks
In the Belledonne, wind vanes could be seen on the peaks all morning. On the ground, the avalanches were limited to the areas close to the crest. Two avalanche cracks could also be observed there in the steeper terrain. However, the danger areas were easy to recognize and in the more moderate terrain you are also safe from the annoying stones.
Overall impression
Finally a glimmer of hope after a long drought, but nothing more. In any case, it will have to snow heavily again before any serious activities are possible. At least. It remains cold for the time being
