In the parking lot behind Prabert there is just enough space to climb up. As the road is not cleared, the ascent drags on. Above 1800 m the snow is still usable.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne

In the south already well softened and not so fine, also partly slightly browned by sand from far away. Still good on the north side above 1500 m. There was a lot of tracked snow but the wind "recycled" it a bit

Risks

There was a critical traverse below the south-east slope that was critical. Most of the slopes had already unloaded in the morning. But even at lunchtime, the group in front of us was greeted by a not-so-small wet snow avalanche directly across the track. The ascent to the Pic de la Belle Etoile also looked very exposed, with a number of descents already. There were also no ascent tracks on the summit slope.

Overall impression

Warming temperatures are already making it harder to find good snow. You have to take spring-like conditions and dangers in the form of diurnal warming into account when planning your tour.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
