This is already my fourth trip to the Vercors this winter. This is due to the good snow conditions in all exposures.
Snow quality
The last snowfall was over a week ago and according to the moderate wind, "compact powder" has formed. That's how the French describe it. There was more wind near the summit and the snow is changeable. The French call this 'neige intellectuelle' because, as in a debate with an intellectual, you can't tell in advance what you're getting into with this snow...
Risks
The snow cover is stable.
Overall impression
Going to the mountains is like flying - the sun always shines above the clouds.
Hopefully the announced cold snap will also bring fresh snow, because then it's 'powder alert' in the Vercors too!
