Rissiou - Grandes Rousses
Snow condition

Overall impression
Snow condition
Initially, we set our sights on the south-western, hardly frequented slope of the Rissiou, but the snow conditions thwarted our plans and we switched to the classic route (south-east). There is enough snow here from the parking lot of la Villette (1400 m).
Snow quality
The snow is already slightly slushy in the sun at 10 a.m., which makes the ascent more difficult. This is particularly unpleasant in the final, steep passage, where you plunge knee-deep with crampons, and the rocks and stones absorb a lot of heat, causing holes to form in the snow in places.
Risks
The avalanche danger has risen from 1 to 3 from morning to midday. We've seen relatively large wet base avalanches, but they're already a few days old. Apart from snow slugs, nothing has moved this morning.
Overall impression
With a great view of the Grandes Rousses massif (Vaujany & Alpe d'Huez) (image 1) and the first 4.1, this CAF GI excursion will live long in the memory!
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
